At Red Maple Dog Care and Training, we are a small, husband-and-wife run dog boarding business in a beautiful rural environment, just 20 min south of Ithaca, NY.

Jen and James have over 25 years of professional experience working with dogs and many other domestic animals.  James spent his career as an Animal Services Officer in the Los Angeles area.  Jen has worked in both nonprofit and municipal shelters for more than 2 decades, rising to the Director of Animal Services in CA, and most recently as the Executive Director of Stray Haven, in Waverly, NY until 2021. Jen has been a dog trainer and behaviorist for over a decade.

James and Jen have owned and operated a cage-free dog boarding business in CA for 3.5 years, then moved to Spencer, NY in 2018 and have owned and operated Red Maple Dog Care & Training since.  They both have a wealth of knowledge of working with dogs, and specifically, large groups of dogs.  The goal for every dog that stays at Red Maple is that he or she is fulfilled every day, by getting plenty of exercise, social time with other dogs, and affection/guidance from us. 

We want every dog to sleep well in our care, and enjoy coming back!
